New Alfa Romeo SUV Coming in 2027

We recently got teaser about yet another SUV coming from Alfa Romeo, but one logical question comes to mind – Do we really need another SUV?” As a true Alfisti and long-time enthusiast of this famous Italian brand I have to say that I would rather see something in line of GT, or GTV successor. Even new Giulietta in my mind would make more sense. However market does dictate the production plans, and the main people decided to follow the mainstream direction.

The new Alfa Romeo SUV is supposed to be positioned in C-segment, and its premiere is scheduled for the fall of 2027. The model still doesn’t have a name, but we can make out a few details from this teaser which suggests more of a sport, almost coupe-oriented design. It will be built on Stellantis STLA medium and it will offer variety of powertrain combinations.

The new creation has been designed in Alfa Romeo design center “Centro Stile” in Torino, while the production is planned in Stellatis’ factory Melfi in southern Italy.

This is also supposed to accentuate Italian identity of the brand which is mainly focused on recognizable design, quality interior, incredible performance, and driver’s experience.

Size

It is still unclear how big the new Alfa Romeo SV will be. Tonale is 453cm in length, Stelvio is a bit bigger at 470cm, so our guess is that the new model might be positioned somewhere in between. Rest of the models from Stellantis are at 465cm, so that gives us a pretty good idea.

Powertrain

When it comes to engine palette, we didn’t get any information. However, again based on the models built on the same platform we can expect to see mild hybrid which would develop somewhere around 150 horsepower, plug-in hybrid which would be quite a bit stronger at around 230hp, and a fully-electric version. The fully-electric versions would be the most powerful, and they could develop somewhere around 260 to 380HP, with an estimated range of 700 kilometers. One thing is for shore though; we are not going to see a diesel version.

It would be a shame though if we don’t see something enthusiast-oriented like the version with gasoline 510HP QV engine from Giulia/Stelvio. Now Giulia and Stelvio are supposed to stay in production until the 2027, even the strongest versions, after which we might see the earlier mentioned Giulietta successor. However considering the crack of the automobile industry in Europe, don’t get your hopes up.
