Alfa Romeo is not living up to its reputation for a while now, but Fiat decided to bring back the old glory to this famous Italian brand. We already talked about it in previous articles, but just to remind you, their plan is launch of bunch of models in the next couple of years. Besides the already confirmed Alfa 4C spider, they are going to launch 7 new models and they’re all supposed to go into production before 2017.

All new models will be built on new platform that’s adapted for rear wheel drive and all wheel drive. We’ll know more info on 6th of May when Fiat is officially going to present their production plan.

While we wait for that information, another juicy info surfaced. Now, we mentioned possibility that Alfa might get engines developed by Ferrari few years back, but this time that information came straight from the top of Fiat management.

This unnamed person claims that Ferrari is going to be in charge of engine development for Alfa’s future models, including crossovers. If we take a look at this situation logically, we can conclude that only Alfa’s top models will get these engines.

Giuseppe Berta, professor at Bocconi University and former employee of Fiat, talked about the same solutions, adding: “This is last chance for Alfa Romeo. The best for Sergio Marchionne to confront his German rivals are Ferrari engines and Italian design”.
