The serial version of Alfa Romeo Tonale has been introduced over a year ago, and finally, it is scheduled to hit the US market in June this year. Two trims are available to pre-order, the Tonale TI, and Veloce. However, Alfa has also stated that one more trim level will be available and it is Sprint which would be entry-level.

Price in the US

Alfa Romeo Tonale’s price in the US for TI trim will start at $44,995, while Veloce will cost you $47,495.

The interesting thing is that the Tonale plug-in hybrid will start at $42,995 and it will qualify for a $7,500 federal tax credit, but there is a catch. You’ll be able to take advantage of this deal only if you lease the Tonale.

Options

We still didn’t get our hands on the options list for the US market. However, we can speculate that Sprint trim level will come with 18-inch wheels, LED headlights, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 10.25-inch infotainment system that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Other sets of options will include wireless phone charging, and a variety of safety and assistance systems including adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, intelligent speed assist, traffic sign recognition technology, lane departure, lane assist, collision warning, and so on.

Powertrain

When it comes to engines, Tonale has quite a few options in Europe. However, not all of the versions will be available in the US. The strongest version of the Tonale will be available and it is a plug-in hybrid with a 1.3-liter gasoline engine paired with an electric motor mounted onto the rear axle.

This version will be equipped with a 15.5 kWh lithium-ion battery. The combined output of this configuration is 285 horsepower. This is enough to push it to 62mph in less than 6 seconds, while the maximum speed would be exceeding 135mph.

When it comes to the electric-only range, it is 30 miles or 48 kilometers. There is one other powertrain option that will be available in the US and it is a 2-liter turbo. It will develop 256 horsepower and it will be paired with 9-speed automatic transmission.
